Understanding the errors
On some models of notebooks, the webcam application may display error messages or may not launch, depending on the application used to access the webcam. This is more than likely caused by outdated software that Windows Vista uses to communicate with hardware like the webcam. Microsoft continually updates and improves Windows Vista.
Installing new webcam driver in Vista with Service Pack 1
Anytime you are experiences problems with your webcam, the first thing you should check is to see that you are using Vista with Service Pack 1. Service Pack 1 includes a new webcam driver that resolves many of the webcam errors.
