Getting Started with HP ePrint Mobile Apps

Introduction

This document describes how to get started with the HP ePrint mobile app and the HP ePrint Home & Biz app. For more information about either mobile app, click here to review HP mobile app FAQs .

If you previously installed ePrint Home & Biz, HP recommends that you upgrade to the HP ePrint mobile app. The update is available in Apple’s App Store or in your My Apps list in the Google Play Store for Android.

The HP ePrint mobile app is the essential app to support all your HP mobile printing needs. The HP ePrint mobile app is available for Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later and for Android mobile devices running OS 2.2 and later. You can easily print your digital content wirelessly to supported HP printers on a local wireless network. Additionally, you can print to your HP ePrint-enabled printer via the Cloud at home, the office, or on-the-go, whenever the printer is connected to the Internet. You can even print to thousands of HP ePrint Public Print Locations worldwide.
For Apple devices, the HP ePrint mobile app is available for free in the Apple App Store or as an update to HP ePrint Home & Biz. For Android mobile devices, the HP ePrint mobile app is available for free in the Google Play Store or as an update to HP ePrint Home and Biz.
HP ePrint Home & Biz is a free app for Nokia – Symbian mobile devices that lets you view, share, and print photos, documents, and web pages. You can print wirelessly to supported HP printers in a local Wi-Fi network, and print to your HP ePrint-enabled printer when it is connected to the Internet. You can also scan pictures and documents using the supported scanning feature on your HP printer. After scanning, you can either print the results immediately or store them on your mobile device. HP ePrint Home & Biz is no longer supported on Apple or Android devices and has been replaced by the HP ePrint mobile app.

Getting started with HP mobile apps

Your HP mobile printing solution depends on the type of mobile device you own. Choose the mobile app that is right for you.
Follow these steps to install the HP ePrint mobile app on your Apple or Android mobile device.
Follow the steps below to install the HP ePrint mobile app on your Apple mobile device.
Step one: Install the HP ePrint mobile app
Choose one of the following methods to install the HP ePrint mobile app on your Apple device.
    1. On your Apple device, tap App Store .
    2. In the App Store Search feature, type HP ePrint , and then tap Search .
    3. In the Search results section, tap HP ePrint mobile app icon, tap FREE , and then tap INSTALL .

    4. If prompted, provide your iTunes account information, and then tap OK .
    1. Open iTunes on your computer.
    2. Click iTunes Store button.
    3. In the Search feature, type HP ePrint , and then press Enter .
    4. In the Search results section, find the HP ePrint mobile app, and then click the Free button.

    5. If prompted, provide your iTunes account information, and then click Get . iTunes automatically installs the app on your mobile device.
Step two: Activate the mobile app (optional)
    If you activate , you unlock all the features of the HP ePrint mobile app. You can print to any HP ePrint-enabled printer (to which you have been given access) from anywhere your mobile device has Internet access. You can also print Microsoft Office documents and Web pages, or save the Web pages to print later. HP ePrint mobile app even helps you with HP printer setup and lets you monitor the status of your print jobs.
    If you do not activate , you can still print directly to your supported Wi-Fi-enabled HP printer, but only when your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can print photos, images, PDFs, and text files saved on your mobile device.
Use the following steps to activate the mobile app.
  1. On your Apple device, tap the HP ePrint icon, and then tap Activate .
  2. Type your email address in the Activate using your email box, and then tap Activate . The HP ePrint service sends you an email containing an Activation Code.
  3. Check your email, and then write down the Activation Code sent by the HP ePrint service.
  4. On the Apple device, press the Home button ( ) twice, and then tap HP ePrint .
  5. Type the Activation Code into the box, and then tap Activate .
    The app displays a message to confirm activation.
Follow these steps to install the HP ePrint mobile app onto your Android mobile device directly from Google Play.
Step one: Install the HP ePrint mobile app
Choose one of the following methods to install the HP ePrint mobile app on your Android device.
    1. On your Android device, tap the Play Store icon ( ).
    2. In the Play Store Search feature, type HP ePrint .
    3. In the Search results section, tap the HP ePrint mobile app icon.

    4. Tap Install , and then tap OK to download and install the HP ePrint mobile app.
    1. On your computer, open a browser and go to the Google Play Store website.
    2. In the Google Play Search feature, type HP ePrint , and then press Enter .
    3. Click the HP ePrint mobile app icon.

    4. Click Install , and then click OK to confirm your selection.
Step two: Activate the mobile app (optional)

Step one: Install HP ePrint Home & Biz

Use one of the following options to install HP ePrint Home & Biz.
    1. On your mobile device, go to the Ovi Store , and then sign in with your Google account.
    2. Search for 'HP ePrint Home & Biz .'
    3. Tap or select HP ePrint Home & Biz from the list of search results, and then tap or select Download to download the free app.
    4. Tap or select Accept & download . The download begins.
    1. On your computer, go to the Ovi Store , and then sign in with your Google account.
    2. Search for 'HP ePrint Home & Biz '.
    3. Click HP ePrint Home & Biz from the list of search results, and then click Download to download the free app.
    4. Click Accept & download . The download begins.
    5. Sync your mobile device.

Step two: Register the mobile app (optional)

Use the following steps to register the mobile app.
    If you register , you unlock all the features of the mobile app. You can print to any HP ePrint-enabled printer (to which you have been given access) from anywhere your mobile device has Internet access. You can also print Microsoft Office documents and Web pages, or save the Web pages to print later. HP ePrint Home & Biz even helps you with HP printer setup and lets you monitor the status of your print jobs.
    If you choose not to register , you can still print directly to your supported Wi-Fi-enabled HP printer, but only when your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can print photos, images, PDFs, and text files saved on your mobile device. You can also scan from your supported HP device to the mobile app, or capture an image using your mobile device. The iOS version of HP ePrint Home & Biz also allows your mobile device to act as a driver to transfer files to your PC or Mac.
  1. On your mobile device, tap or select HP ePrint Home & Biz , and then tap or select Registration .

  2. Type your email address, and then tap or select Submit . The HP ePrint service sends you an email containing a Registration Code.
  3. Check your email, and then write down the Registration Code sent by the HP ePrint service.
  4. Tap HP ePrint Home & Biz to open the app again, type your Registration Code, and then tap or select Send .
  5. If you want to register another email address, follow these steps:
    1. On your mobile device, tap HP ePrint Home & Biz .
    2. Tap or select Settings , tap or select Register Another Email , and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration.
