How to Repair, Uninstall and Reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010

Microsoft Office Starter 2010 is a limited-function version of the Microsoft Office software suite. It comes pre-loaded on certain HP computers and is not a trial version. It provides the use of basic productivity tasks for as long as you desire. It also allows you to upgrade to the full version of Microsoft Office if additional features are required.
While using Microsoft Office Starter, it may stall (hang-up) or you may receive an error message asking you to repair the program. To execute the repair, perform the following:
An internet connection is required to repair Microsoft Office Starter 2010. To execute the repair, follow the steps below:
  1. Click Start, Control Panel, and then Programs.
  2. Under Programs and Features, click Uninstall a program.
  3. Select Microsoft Office Starter 2010, and then click Change.
  4. Check the box by Remove all Office user settings related to this product, and then click Yes to begin the repair.
  5. Once the program completes the repair, you should be able to use as before.
If you receive an error message that the repair failed, try uninstalling Microsoft Office Starter 2010 and then reinstall it as described below.
Before uninstalling Microsoft Office 2010, you should determine if Microsoft Office Manager is installed. Office manager allows you to reinstall the starter program without having to perform a restore or recovery procedure. To verify the office manager is installed, perform the following:
  1. Click Start, Control Panel,Program and Features and then click Uninstall a program.
  2. If Microsoft Office 2010 Manager (noted by the entry of Microsoft Office 2010) is listed, then you will be able to reinstall the program using office manager. However, if office manager is not listed and you uninstall the starter program, you will have to do a restore to reinstall the starter program.
    CAUTION:Do not uninstall the Microsoft Office Program Manager as it requires you to perform a recovery to reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010.
To uninstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010, follow the instructions provided below.
To uninstall, perform the following:
  1. Click Start, Control Panel, and then Programs.
  2. Click Uninstall a program under the Programs and Features section.
  3. Click Microsoft Office Starter 2010 and then click Uninstall.
  4. Click Yes to begin the uninstall and follow the on-screen instructions.
Once the uninstall is complete, you can then reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010 as follows.
If you removed Office Starter 2010, it can be reinstalled using the following steps:
  1. Click Start, All Programs, and then click Microsoft Office Starter 2010.
  2. Click Use to start the install program following the on-screen instructions.
Once the program completes the install, you should be able to use as before.
