Setting Up the Printer in Microsoft Windows
Introduction
Follow the steps below to set up the printer.

Make sure the computer meets the minimum system requirements before installing the printer.

Intel Pentium II (or equivalent compatible processor) or higher
64 MB RAM (128 MB recommended)
500 MB free disk space
Available USB port (2.0), PictBridge (using front camera port), or Bluetooth (using optional HP Bluetooth wireless printer adapter)
CD-ROM drive (4x)
800 x 600 monitor with 16-bit or higher color depth
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later
Step one: Unpack the printer
  1. Verify the contents of the box. The contents may vary by country/region. Refer to the packaging for the actual contents.
  2. Remove all tape and cardboard packaging from inside and around the printer.
Step two: Connect the power cord
  1. Connect the power cord to the printer and to a wall outlet.
    CAUTION:
    Do not connect the USB cable until prompted to do so during software installation.

  2. Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
Step three: Load paper
Load plain paper into the paper In-tray.
Step four: Install the ink cartridges
When installing the ink cartridges, ensure that the pink protective tab is completely removed. Also, do not touch or remove the ink nozzles or the copper-colored contacts.

Step five: Install the printer software
When installing the printer software, do not connect the USB cable until prompted to do so.
  1. Insert the software CD into the CD drive of the computer.
  2. Follow the on-screen steps until the printer software is completely installed.
