"Network Path Not Found" or "PXE Error" Appears Before Computer Starts
This document pertains to HP PCs with the HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) beginning in late-2008.
Issue
On startup, one of the following error messages appears:
  • Network Path Not Found
  • An error message referencing PXE
Cause
Your computer is attempting to boot from an incorrect or unavailable network source.
Remedy
When connecting to a corporate network
If the computer is connected to a corporate network, contact the network administrator or the IT department to resolve the errors.
When connecting to a personal network
If the computer is connected to a personal network, follow the steps below to reset the BIOS Setup boot options.
  1. Turn on the computer and immediately press the esc key to display the Startup Menu, and then press the F10 key to access the BIOS Setup.

  2. Use your keyboard's arrow keys to highlight Storage from the top menu, then highlight Boot order and press Enter.

  3. Change the boot order so that the internal hard drive is the first option. You can also choose to disable network boot entirely.

  4. Save the changes and restart the computer.
