What if I Don't See My Operating System?
This document is for HP printers that do not have drivers in select operating systems.
What if I don’t see my operating system?
If your operating system is not listed, HP does not have software or driver downloads available for this printer in your operating system.
Why is there no driver available for my operating system?
HP strives to provide driver options for most operating systems, but it is not always possible. The type of driver option available for your printer depends on a number of factors. Generally, HP printers older than seven years old are unlikely to be supported on the newest operating systems.
What other options are available?
There might be alternative solutions for your printer. To search for alternative options or workarounds for your printer and operating system, consider one or more of the following options.
Some alternative solutions might not provide full printer functionality.
Chrome OS: You do not need to install any drivers or software from HP or Google on your Chromebook.
HP Consumer Support Forum
: The HP customer community often recommends alternative drivers or workarounds that provide basic functionality for HP printers that are not supported on a specific operating system. You can search existing forum threads for available options for your printer and operating system, or you can create a new thread to inquire about alternative options or workarounds.
Third-party forums: You can find alternative driver solutions or workarounds for non-supported operating systems on third-party printer forums. Although HP does not support the solutions offered on these forums, they might enable you to use your printer with a non-supported operating system. Take precautions to protect your computer from viruses or malware before you install any driver or software from a third-party.
Linux print drivers for HP printers
: HP develops HP Linux Imaging & Printing (HPLIP) software that includes a driver, a driver installer, and a toolbox for setting up and configuring HP printers. The software provides support for over 2,200 HP products and works with nearly any Linux distribution on the market today. Although HP does not ship printers with HPLIP software on the software CDs, all major Linux distributions regularly integrate HPLIP into their software releases.

Caution about third-party support websites: Recently, HP has seen an increased number of third-party support websites selling HP driver downloads or diagnostic tools. Many of these websites use the HP trademark symbol and claim to be official HP distributers. If your printer supports your computer's operating system, HP offers your driver and software
at no additional cost through the HP website. Use caution when dealing with any website that asks you to pay for HP driver downloads or tools that claim to diagnose your HP products. These websites are not affiliated with HP in any way.
