How to Print 4 x 6 Photos Using the Printer Software

This document is for the Photosmart 145, 245, 7260, 7660, 7755, 7760, and 7690 printer series.
There are several options for printing 4 x 6 (10 x 15 cm) photos with the printer software installed on a computer. The following software features will allow 4 x 6 (10 x 15 cm) printing: Quick Prints, Print button, Album Printing, Photo Prints, and various non-HP programs.

Printing 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) photos using Quick Prints

Use the Quick Prints tool to print borderless 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) images that do not require any adjustments on plain or photo paper.
  1. Double-click the HP Photo & Imaging software icon on the main Windows screen (see Figure 1).

  2. Load 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) paper in the photo tray.
  3. In the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery, select one or more images.
  4. On the Sharing Toolbar, click Quick Prints (see Figure 2).

  5. Select the appropriate printer from the printer name list.
  6. Choose the print range and number of copies.
  7. Click OK to begin printing.

Printing 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) photos using the Print button

  1. In the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery, select an image by clicking it once.
  2. Click Print on the Main Toolbar (see Figure 3).

  3. Select the appropriate printer from the printer name list.
  4. Specify the print range and number of copies.
  5. Click Properties to modify the printer properties.
  6. On the Paper/Quality tab do one of the following:
    • From the Print Task Quick Sets, select a 4 x 6 inch printing option.
    • Manually set the printer properties by selecting a 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) paper size from the size list and the paper source, type and quality.
  7. Click OK twice to begin printing.

Printing 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) photos with Album Printing

  1. In the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery, select an image for printing.
  2. Click Album Printing (see Figure 4).

  3. If the image needs adjustment, double-click the image to open the Image Adjustments window and adjust the image using the tools provided.
  4. Click Accept to save the modifications.
  5. With the images to be printed selected, click the Prints on the menu bar at the top of the screen (see Figure 5).

  6. In the Design to Page Size list, select the appropriate paper size.
  7. Select a template and click OK .
  8. To move the image area that is cropped, click and hold the left mouse button over the image and drag it to the right or the left, or up or down until the image is positioned in the desired manner.
  9. Click Print on the menu bar at the top of the screen (see Figure 6).

  10. Select the appropriate printer from the printer name list.
  11. Click Properties .
  12. On the Paper/Quality tab do one of the following:
    • From the Print Task Quick Sets, select a 4 x 6 inch printing option.
    • Manually set the printer properties by selecting a 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) paper size from the size list and the paper source, type and quality.
  13. Click OK twice to begin printing.

Printing 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) photos with Photo Prints

  1. In the HP Photo & Imaging Gallery, select up to 36 images for printing.
  2. Click Photo Prints (see Figure 7).

  3. Print 4 x 6 images by doing one of the following:
    • Select Letter (8.5 x 11 in) in the Paper Size area, then enter the number of 4 x 6 inch copies to print of each image.
    • Load 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) photo paper in the paper tray and select 4 x 6 inch in the Paper Size area, then enter the number of 4 x 6 inch copies to print of each image.
  4. Select the printer.
  5. Select the paper type.
  6. Click the Print button to begin printing.

Printing with a non-HP program

An HP Photosmart printer can be used with any Windows computer software application that allows printing. When printing with a non-HP application, be sure to do the following:
  1. In page setup in the application, set the margins to zero.
  2. In the HP Photosmart printer properties, do the following:
    • Scroll through the paper size list and select a 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) paper size.
    • When printing borderless, check the Borderless Photo box.
    • If the image size is not the same size as the paper, select the Borderless Auto Fit box for the image to be scaled to fit on the paper.
