Where is my Windows Desktop?

Open the Magic Menu by tapping or clicking an open area of the Magic Canvas, and then select Windows® Desktop to return to the Windows Desktop.

I removed an item from the Carousel. How can I get it back?

Moving an item out of the Carousel deletes the link. The original Carousel items can be found by clicking Start, All Programs. Drag an item onto the Carousel to add the link back to the Carousel.

Can I hide the Carousel?

Yes. To hide the Carousel, open the Magic Menu by tapping or clicking an open area of the Magic Canvas, and then select Settings. On the Settings screen, use the Show Carousel check box to hide the Carousel.

The Carousel is missing, how do I get it back?

If the Carousel is missing, it has been hidden. To show the Carousel, open the Magic Menu by tapping or clicking an open area of the Magic Canvas, and then select Settings. On the Settings screen, use the Show Carousel check box to show the Carousel.

How can I see all of the items on the Carousel at once?

To view all Carousel items at once, select the Quick Launch button.

All of the Carousel items are displayed in a grid, in alphabetical order. You can open any Carousel item from the grid. You cannot add or remove items from the Carousel in this view.

I deleted a tip. How do I get it back?

If you delete a tip, it is permanently erased.

How do I delete a desktop icon?

To remove a desktop icon, select the three dots in the corner of the icon and then select Delete.
NOTE:When you drag a file onto the desktop from the computer's hard drive, the file on the desktop is now the source file. If you delete the icon for the file, the file itself gets sent to the recycle bin, just like it does in the Windows Desktop. Hold down the ctrl key while dragging to create a copy of a file. Hold down the alt key while dragging to create a shortcut to the file.

Can I hide the desktop icons?

Yes. Follow these steps to hide the desktop icons:
NOTE:You can change this setting for all of the desktop icons as a group. You cannot hide or show individual icons.
  1. Open the Magic Menu by tapping or clicking an open area of the Magic Canvas, and then select Settings.

  2. Remove the check next to Show desktop icons on the Magic Canvas.
    To show the desktop icons, open the settings and check the box next to Show desktop icons on the Magic Canvas.

I don't see the desktop icons. Where are they?

If the desktop icons are not on the screen, you may have scrolled away from them. Scroll to the left and right on the Magic Canvas to look for the desktop icons. Desktop icons may also be covered by magnets or open apps.
If you do not find the icons, they may be hidden. Follow these steps to show the desktop icons:
  1. Open the Magic Menu by tapping or clicking an open area of the Magic Canvas, and then select Settings.
  2. Place a check next to Show desktop icons on the Magic Canvas.

My desktop icons keep disappearing whenever I run an app. How do I stop this from happening?

You can change the settings so that the Magic Canvas does not scroll every time you open a new app.
  1. Open the Magic Menu by tapping or clicking an open area of the Magic Canvas, and then select Settings.
  2. Remove the check next to Scroll the Magic Canvas when new apps are launched.

I have several apps open. How can I go straight to a particular app?

Go straight to an open app by tapping or clicking the shortcut on the carousel or by selecting the item on the Windows taskbar.

How do I create a magnet from the Recipe Box?

To create a magnet in Recipe Box, first maximize the Recipe Box. Then select the recipe, and click or tap Create Magnet. The current recipe is saved as a magnet.
NOTE:If you do not select a recipe, a blank magnet is created.

If I uninstall the Magic Canvas, can I still use the apps?

No. If you uninstall the Magic Canvas, the apps (such as Music, Video, Photo, and Recipe Box) do not work.

PowerPoint do not display correctly after switching between the Magic Canvas and the Windows Desktop. What can I do?

To resolve this issue, save any open PowerPoint documents, then close and restart PowerPoint.

A graffiti message I erased is still displaying on the Magic Canvas. How can I get rid of the graffiti?

To delete the graffiti, right-click the graffiti and then click or tap Delete.

The FATE game does not play properly when I open the Magic Canvas. How do I play the game?

If the FATE game does not play correctly with Magic Canvas open, close the game and then restart it.

I uninstalled the Recipe Box, but cannot remove a Recipe magnet. How do I remove the magnet?

To delete the Recipe magnet, right-click the magnet and then click or tap Delete.

Why doesn't the Magic Canvas display correctly after I change the orientation to portrait?

The Magic Canvas does not support portrait orientation. Close and restart Magic Canvas to display in landscape.
