Message Tracking/Delivery Options Are Not Working via Outlook Web App with Error "Some messages can't be tracked because of an error occurred. For assistance please contact your helpdesk."

Issue

When Microsoft Exchange 2010 user try to Message Track/Delivery options are not working via Outlook Web App with the following error:
Some messages can't be tracked because of an error occurred. For assistance please contact your helpdesk.
Steps followed for message tracking/Delivery options with in Outlook Web App:
  • Log on to Outlook Web App.
  • Go to Options.
  • Select Organize Email.
  • Click on Delivery Reports.
  • Select the users either Search for messages I've sent to: or Search for messages that were sent to me from: - Fill in the user details.
  • Click on Search - that’s when users receive the error - Some messages can't be tracked because of an error occurred. For assistance please contact your helpdesk.

Solution

Ensure that user have at least one Authoritative SMTP Domain added into Accepted Domains and its set to Default.
It is very much possible that user may not have any Authoritative SMTP Domain in the Exchange organization; rather user may have only Internal Relay domains.
