Learn About Devices in HP Connected

Introduction

This document describes how to use the Devices tab on HP Connected to manage the settings and ePrint preferences for your printer.
The Devices tab provides the following information and tools:
  • Printers shows each printer connected to your account, along with the ePrint address of each printer.
  • Status tells you if a printer is online or offline, and if there are problems with a printer, including out of paper, out of ink, paper jam, or door open.
  • ePrint Access tells you if your ePrint access is set to Open to Anyone or to Allowed Senders .
  • Add a Device allows you to add a printer to your HP Connected account.
  • Settings allows you to do the following tasks:
    • Order supplies
    • Check printer status
    • Add, remove, or schedule printables
    • Add or remove a printer
    • Manage ePrint preferences
Review the following sections about managing the settings and ePrint preferences for your printer.
Follow these steps to order ink supplies for your HP printer online.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings .
  4. Below Order Supplies , click Start Shopping .
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your order.
Follow these steps to check your printer’s status.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. Click Problem with Printer to get more information about the problem.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Catalog tab.
  3. Browse the list of available printables by clicking the All Categories drop-down list and selecting the category that you want. You can also search for printables by name or type.
  4. Click Details for the printable that you want to add, click Add , and then follow the on-screen instructions to add the printable to your printer and personalize any available preferences and delivery settings.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings .
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Printables . The printables associated with your printer display on the screen.
  5. Click the printable that you want to remove, and then click Remove this Printable .
Follow these steps to add a printer to your HP Connected account.
NOTE:To find the claim code for your printer, print a Web Services Information Sheet. For more information, go to Getting My Printer Claim Code .
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Click Add a Device .
  4. Type the new printer’s claim code into the dialogue box, and then click Add . The new printer should now be added to your list of devices.
Follow these steps to remove a printer from your HP Connected account.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. On the right side of the page, click Remove Printer .
  5. When prompted, click Remove .
The printer’s ePrint email address is the address where users can send print jobs to the ePrint printer. Follow these steps to change the printer's ePrint email address.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click ePrint . The ePrint Preferences page opens and shows the printer's current ePrint email address.
  5. Click Change Address .
  6. Type a new ePrint email address in the text box, and then click OK .
    • If the address that you typed is available , your settings update immediately.
    • If the address that you typed is not available , try a different address or click one of the suggested addresses, and then click OK .
  7. Inform any allowed senders of the new ePrint email address.
Review the following sections for managing ePrint preferences:
Open to Anyone means that anyone who knows your ePrint address has the right to print to your printer. Follow these steps to set ePrint Access to Open to Anyone :
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. Click ePrint , and then click Manage Access .
  5. Select Open to Anyone , and then click OK .
If you type an email address into the Block a Sender dialog box the ePrint printer accepts no print jobs from that email address. Follow these steps to add an email address to the Block a Sender list.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. Click ePrint , and then click Manage Access .
  5. In the Block a Sender dialog box, type the email address that you want to block, click Block , and then click OK .
If you select Allowed Senders , the ePrint printer accepts print jobs only from the email addresses of individuals to whom you grant access. Follow these steps to create an Allowed Senders list.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. Click ePrint , and then click Manage Access .
  5. Select Allowed Senders .
  6. In the Allow a Sender's Email Address dialog box, type the email address, click Allow , and then click OK . The ePrint printer now accepts print jobs from that email address.
Follow these steps if you do not want the ePrint printer to accept print jobs from an email address on the Allowed Senders list.
  1. Sign in to your HP Connected account at HP Connected .
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Next to the icon for your printer, click Settings . The status of your printer displays above the printer icon.
  4. Click ePrint , and then click Manage Access .
  5. Under Allowed Senders , click the email address that you want to remove, click Remove , and then click OK .
