Before you begin

To watch broadcast television on your PC, the AVerMedia TV Player must be connected to a signal source. Some of the supplies you may need include:
  • An aerial antenna.
  • An RF modulator.
  • A coaxial (RF) cable. For best results, use a short cable.
  • A composite video (RCA) cable.

Connecting to a broadcast signal source

Connection options vary based on TV tuner type, the options available in your community, and whether you subscribe to a cable or satellite television service. Choose one of the following options:
You need an aerial antenna to watch digital TV.
  1. Connect a coaxial cable from the antenna to the cable input on the back of your computer.
Figure 1: Example of a coaxial input and a coaxial cable
    A coaxial input and cable
  2. Turn the connector to tighten it.
To receive an analog TV signal, you may be able to connect the cable or satellite provider's TV signal cable (from the wall) directly to the computer's coaxial input.
  1. With the computer turned off, plug the connector of the coaxial cable into the coaxial input on the back of the computer.
Figure 2: Example of a coaxial input and a coaxial cable

  2. Turn the connector to tighten it.
If your set-top box does not have a coaxial output, you may need to use an RF modulator, available at most electronics stores.
NOTE:When using this configuration, changing channels must be done using the set-top box, not in the AVerMedia TV Player.
  1. Turn off the computer and the RF modulator.
  2. Switch the channel on the RF modulator to 3.
  3. Connect the yellow, white, and red ends of a composite video cable to the matching audio/video out ports on the back of the set-top box.
