Introduction
This document provides steps for configuring BitDefender Internet Security 2009 or 2010 to allow a network connection with your HP product.

NOTE:This procedure might reduce the security provided by your firewall.

NOTE:Perform these steps before you install any HP software. When you install any HP software, click Allow
on any pop-up windows that display to allow all processes.
- Double-click the BitDefender Internet Security icon (
) in the lower right corner of the computer screen (the notification area). The BitDefender window opens. - Click the SWITCH TO ADVANCED VIEW button in the top right of the window. The Advanced View opens.
- Click Firewall in the left side of the window.
- Click the Network tab. The Network Configuration table opens.
- Under Trust Level , click Trusted Local or Full Trust for the Local Area Connection item.
- Close the BitDefender window.
Follow these steps to configure the BitDefender Internet Security 2010 firewall.
BitDefender might open in one of three modes: Service Mode
, Intermediate Mode
, or Expert Mode
. Follow these steps to open BitDefender in Expert Mode, and then configure BitDefender for compatibility with networked HP products.

) in the lower right corner of the computer screen (the notification area), or click the shortcut on your desktop to open the BitDefender Internet Security 2010
window.

window.- If BitDefender opens in Expert Mode , follow the steps in Method one to Configure BitDefender in Expert Mode .
Follow these steps if the BitDefender window opens in the Expert Mode
view.
- Click Firewall in the left side of the window.
- Click the Network tab, and then select Trusted Local from the Trust Level drop-down list.
- Click the X in the upper right corner of the BitDefender window to close it, and then restart your computer.
Important
: You must restart your computer in order for your changes to take effect.
Follow these steps if the BitDefender window opens in a mode other than the Expert Mode
view.
- I n the upper right corner of the BitDefender window that opened, click Settings. The User Interface Settings window opens.
- In the User Interface Settings window, select Expert Mode from the Switch UI to: drop-down list, click Apply , and then click OK . The view changes to Expert Mode .
- Click Firewall on the left side of the window.
- Click the Network tab, and then select Trusted Local from the Trust Level drop-down list.
- Click the X in the upper right corner of the BitDefender window to close it, and then restart your computer.
Important
: You must restart your computer in order for your changes to take effect.
