Printing From WordPerfect Defaults to Manual Feed

  • PrintPrint
ISSUE:
When attempting to print from WordPerfect, the paper source defaults to Manual Feed. The Resume button on the printer must be pressed to print each page of the print job. If the media is loaded into the In tray of a printer that has a manual feed slot, the printer's Resume light will start to flash after the printer fails to find media in the slot.
A message may be displayed on the screen to insert the media into the manual feed slot. Other errors may also appear. Out of paper, error writing to LPTx, and other communication related error messages may also appear on the screen.
SOLUTION:
WordPerfect's default paper source for the media size being used must be changed to something other than Manual or Manual Feed. The steps below outline the changes required to modify the paper source for legal size media. To make the change for other media sizes, substitute the media size everywhere the legal size media is referenced.
  1. Open the Page Information window and select the media size.
WordPerfect 6.x: select Layout, Page, Page Size, and Legal 8.5 x14 inches
WordPerfect 7.0: select Format, Page, Page Size, and Legal 8.5 x 14 inches
WordPerfect 8.0: select Format and Page Setup; choose the Size tab, and Legal 8.5 x 14 inches
WordPerfect 9.0: select Format, Page, Page Setup, and Legal 8.5 x 14 inches
NOTE: The specific media name may vary from printer to printer. For example, #10 envelopes may appear as "Envelope #10" or "No. 10 Envelope."
  2. Choose Edit and change the paper Source or Location from Manual Feed to InTray, Upper, or Default. The possible paper source selections will vary from printer to printer.
  3. Choose OK.
  4. Select Apply, and then OK to close the Page Setup screen. Legal size media should now print using the updated settings.
