HP Deskjet 510 Printer Troubleshooting

Windows NT 4.0 Installation Error, Must Have Administration Rights to Install Printer Software

  • PrintPrint
ISSUE:
When installing an HP 2000C or an HP DeskJet printer driver in Windows NT 4.0, one of the following errors appears: "System administration privileges are necessary for printer software installation. Please contact your system administrator." or "Your user account does not have the necessary privileges to add or remove printer drivers to the system. The installer cannot proceed. Please contact your system administrator for more information."
SOLUTION:
System Administrator privileges are required to install a printer in Windows NT 4.0. Either contact the system administrator or log in as the system administrator, and then install the printer software.
NOTE: To log in as a different user (Administrator), select Start and Shutdown; then, select "Close all programs and log on as a different user." Select Yes and then log in as the system administrator.
