Introduction
This document discusses how to change the default settings in the printer driver. Follow the steps below for the appropriate operating system.
Microsoft (R) Windows 95, 98, or Me
- Click Start , Settings , and Printers .
- Highlight the appropriate HP Deskjet printer.
- Click File and Properties .
- Click the Setup , Features , or Color tab, and make any desired changes. Some printer drivers may require clicking the Details tab, then Setup to change the printer settings.
NOTE: Do not select the Default button. This button returns the printer settings to the original factory settings. - Click OK to save the new default settings and close the Printers window.

NOTE: Some programs may overwrite the default settings set in the Printers window. Check the printer settings before printing.
Windows 2000 or NT 4.0
- Click Start , Settings , and Printers .
- Select the appropriate HP Deskjet printer.
- Click File and Document Defaults .
- Make any desired changes.
NOTE: Do not select the Default button if one is available. This button returns the printer settings to the original factory settings. - Click OK to save the new default settings and close the Printers window.

Windows 3.1x
- From the Main program group, double-click ControlPanel and Printers .
- Select the appropriate HP Deskjet printer.
- Click Settings .
- Make any desired changes.
