Changing the Default Settings in the Printer Driver

Introduction

This document discusses how to change the default settings in the printer driver. Follow the steps below for the appropriate operating system.

Microsoft (R) Windows 95, 98, or Me

  1. Click Start, Settings, and Printers.
  2. Highlight the appropriate HP Deskjet printer.
  3. Click File and Properties.
  4. Click the Setup, Features, or Color tab, and make any desired changes. Some printer drivers may require clicking the Details tab, then Setup to change the printer settings.
    NOTE: Do not select the Default button. This button returns the printer settings to the original factory settings.
  5. Click OK to save the new default settings and close the Printers window.
NOTE: Some programs may overwrite the default settings set in the Printers window. Check the printer settings before printing.

Windows 2000 or NT 4.0

  1. Click Start, Settings, and Printers.
  2. Select the appropriate HP Deskjet printer.
  3. Click File and Document Defaults.
  4. Make any desired changes.
    NOTE: Do not select the Default button if one is available. This button returns the printer settings to the original factory settings.
  5. Click OK to save the new default settings and close the Printers window.
NOTE: Some programs may overwrite the default settings set in the Printers window. Check the printer settings before printing.

Windows 3.1x

  1. From the Main program group, double-click ControlPanel and Printers.
  2. Select the appropriate HP Deskjet printer.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Make any desired changes.

  5. Click OK to save the new default settings and then close the Printers window.
