Overview of Front Panel Lights and Buttons

Introduction

The buttons on the front of the HP Photosmart 7150 printer can be used to turn the printer on and off, cancel a print job, or resume printing. The lights provide visual cues about the state of the printer. The buttons and lights from left to right are indicated in the table below.

Cancel button

Press this button to cancel the current print job in the printer.

Print cartridge status light

When lit, the print cartridge status light indicates a need to check the status of the print cartridges. The print cartridge status light flashes when one or both of the print cartridges are low on ink, improperly installed, or malfunctioning. It will also flash when an incompatible print cartridge is installed. If a cartridge is low on ink, the light will stop flashing when the top cover is opened. For any other print cartridge related issue, the print cartridge status light will continue to flash.

Resume button and light

Whenever the light above the Resume button flashes, press the Resume button to continue printing. If the printer does not respond after pressing the Resume button, further troubleshooting will be required.

Power button and light

Use the Power button to turn the printer on and off. The green light above the Power button will flash when the printer is processing information.

CAUTION: Use only the Power button to turn the printer on and off. Using a power strip, surge protector, or a wall-mounted switch to turn the printer on and off may cause printer failure.

Troubleshooting printer lights

Before troubleshooting these conditions consult the information contained in the document titled HP PHOTOSMART PRINTERS - HOW TO PERFORM A HARD RESET .
NOTE: The resume light and the ink light may blink together. This is normally due to the lighting in the room and the location of the lights on the printer. One light will actually be brighter than the other.

Printer ready to eject banner paper.

Timeout waiting for data.

Printer in wait state to allow ink to dry. 		Load paper and press the Resume button.

Press the Resume button to eject banner paper.

Press the Resume button to eject sheet.

Wait for end of wait state. Otherwise press the Resume or Power button.
Blinking Off On Print Cartridge ErrorOpen Access door and check position of the carriage to determine which cartridge has failed.
Off Blinking Simultaneously Blinking Simultaneously Carriage Stall ConditionOpen the Access Door and verify there is no obstruction blocking the Carriage path. Turn the power off, then on again. For more information consult the User's Guide that came with the printer.
Blinking Alternately Blinking Alternately Blinking Alternately Fatal ErrorTurn off the printer then turn the printer back on.

If the error reappears, contact the HP technical support.
Off Blinking Off Printer detects a paper jam.Remove paper jam and press the Resume button.
