This document explains how to configure and use the features of the multimedia and Internet buttons.
Keyboard configurations and steps for configuring keyboard buttons may be different depending on the model of keyboard.

NOTE: Before configuring the Internet or Multimedia buttons, download and install the latest keyboard driver if you have not already done so. For more information about downloading software and drivers, refer to the HP support document

- Click the Start button from the Windows taskbar.
- Click Control Panel .
- In Microsoft Windows XP, click Printers and Other Hardware .
- Double-click Easy Access buttons. The Easy Access Buttons dialog box displays (Figure 3). If the Easy Access Buttons icon is not listed use Method 2 below.Figure 3: Easy Access Buttons window

- Select the icon from the list that corresponds with the button you wish to configure.
- Change the name of the button by typing in the Button Name dialog box.
- Enter the desired Web page URL in the Button Assignment dialog box or click Browse to select a program or file from your hard drive (for example, HTTP://www.hp.com or C:\Program Files\AOL\aol.exe).
- Click OK to finish configuring the keyboard buttons.
Compaq Presarios 6300, 6400, and S3000 series
Not all models in the Compaq Presario S3000 series have the entire assortment of Internet buttons.

Configuring Internet and shortcut buttons
Before configuring the Internet or Multimedia buttons, download and install the latest keyboard driver if you have not already done so.

CAUTION:If you cannot configure the Multimedia or Internet keyboard buttons in Windows XP (the buttons tab is missing), download and install the
HP Multimedia Keyboard/Mouse Driver Update - sp26752
. After installing the update, restart the computer and configure the buttons again. This issue occurs when Microsoft update MS06-015 is installed.
Use one of the following methods to configure your Internet Keyboard buttons to open the programs and Web sites you choose.
Using Easy Access
- Click the Start button from the Windows taskbar.
- Click Control Panel .
- Click Printers and Other Hardware .
- Double-click Easy Access Buttons . The Easy Access Buttons dialog box displays (Figure 5). If the Easy Access Buttons icon is not listed, use Method 2 below.Figure 5: Easy Access Buttons Window

- Select the icon from the list that corresponds with the button you wish to configure.
- Change the name of the button by typing in the Button Name dialog box.
- Enter the desired Web page URL in the Button Assignment dialog box or click Browse to select a program or file from your hard drive.
- Click OK to finish configuring the keyboard buttons.
Using Keyboard Properties
- Click Start , and then Control Panel .
- Click Printers and Other Hardware .
- Click Keyboard .The Keyboard Properties window appears.
- Click the Buttons tab. You will see a list of Internet and shortcut buttons.
- Double-click the button you want to configure (such as, CONNECT or Internet).The button's configuration window appears.
- Configure the button to open a Web page or software. The figure and table below explain how to use each field in the Configuration window.
Name of field Description 1. Choose a button capability This field allows you to choose what the button does. For Internet buttons, choices include the following: - Default : Opens the default Web page or program file.
- Simple Web page with label : Allows you to enter a Web address of your choice; click the Favorites button if you want to enter a Web site from your favorites folder.
- Simple local file with label : Allows you to select a program or other file to open; click the Browse button to locate the file.
- Complex remote page with label : Allows you to enter a Web address of your choice; click the Favorites button if you want to enter a Web site from your favorites folder.
2. Display label This field contains the text that will display on the screen when you push the button. 3. Address This field is where you enter the Web address or file name you want to open. - After you have made your changes to the button's configuration, click OK .
- On the Keyboard Properties window, click Apply .
- Repeat previous steps (Step 5 - 8) for each button you want to configure.
- After you have configured the buttons, click OK on the Keyboard Properties window.
Privacy
Does HP receive information about how I use the Internet buttons?
HP collects aggregate information about how customers are interacting with the Internet buttons. Information collected is not tracked to an individual user. Activity, such as buttons clicked, is monitored and this information is sent back to HP. HP uses this information to improve performance, relevance, and overall satisfaction with the Internet buttons.
Do the Internet buttons use or collect any personally identifiable information?
No. HP respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. The Internet buttons do not collect, use, or store any personal information.
