Introduction

When HP replaces your defective unit, some accessories or parts need to be transferred from the defective unit to the replacement product.
NOTE:Please be aware that some optional accessories may not be included with your product model.

Instructions

  1. Prior to replacing or disposing of your defective unit, follow these instructions to ensure the right accessories are removed.
    a) Cartridges . Make sure that the unit is plugged in and turned on before removing the cartridges.

    NOTE:If the cartridges are not going to be inserted in the replacement product immediately, please store them at room temperature inside a rigid sealed plastic container. Store the color cartridge with the nozzles DOWN and the black cartridge with the nozzles UP . This will help prevent ink from drying out.
    If the HP Photosmart 8450 photo printer is not powered up, the service station of the unit does not allow the cartridges to be removed from unit.
    However, by turning the white wheel located behind the purple tab on the bottom of the printer, the service station will liberate the cartridges. Then, the cartridges can be removed.
    Then, unplug the printer and keep the following accessories:
    b) Power module
    c) Power cord
    d) USB cord
    e) User Manual and CD
    f) Memory cards
    g) Bluetooth Accessory
    h) 2nd Paper Tray
    i) Control Panel Bezel
    j) Duplexer Accessory , for automatic two-sided printing.
    After removing the duplexer accessory, please remember to install the rear access door on the defective unit before it is returned to HP .
    k) Duplexer Accessory with the small paper tray .
    After removing the duplexer accessory, please remember to install the rear access door on the defective unit before it is returned to HP .
  2. Transfer the accessories mentioned above from your defective unit to the replacement product.
  3. Apply power to the replacement product and test all the product functions.
