Introduction
The camera locks up or does not turn off. An error message does not display. Resetting the digital camera normally corrects this issue. The reset drains the power and, in some cases, causes the camera to revert to factory defaults.
Perform a power reset of the camera
Follow the instructions below to reset your HP Photosmart M-series camera.
  1. Open the Battery/Memory card door and remove the memory card.
  2. Remove the power source form the camera.
    • If powering the camera with batteries only, remove the batteries for approximately 15 seconds.
    • If using an optional HP AC power adapter only to power the camera, disconnect it from the camera for at least 15 seconds.
    • If using batteries and the HP AC power adapter, remove both for at least 15 seconds.
  3. Reinsert the optional memory card.
  4. Reinsert the batteries and/or reconnect the HP AC power adapter to the camera.
  5. Close the Battery/Memory card door.
NOTE: If the issue is not resolved, try the camera without a memory card or format the memory card. This will help to determine whether an image on the card, the card itself, or the camera is causing the camera to lock up or not turn off. See the manual for formatting instructions.
