Setup Instructions for Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard

The latest HP printer driver software for this printer is included as part of the Mac OS X v10.5 (Leopard) default install. There is no need to download or reinstall any HP software.
Information about updating and adding the HP printer driver software in Mac OS X v10.5 is provided below.
If the HP printer driver set is installed as part of the default Mac OSX v10.5 installation
After completing the Mac OSX v10.5 upgrade or the Mac OSX v10.5 full install, follow these steps to set up a printer queue for the HP product.
  1. Open System Preferences .
  2. Select Print & Fax and make sure that the list of printer queues includes a printer queue for the HP product.
    If no printer queue appears for the HP product, follow these steps to create a new printer queue:
    1. On the left side of the Print & Fax screen, click the plus icon ( ).

      The printer queue addition screen appears.
    2. Click to highlight the product that needs a printer queue and then click Add .
      NOTE: Depending on the connection speed, it might take as long as a minute to complete the list of products connected to the computer.

      The printer queue is created.
If the HP printer drivers are not automatically installed as part of the default Mac OSX v10.5 installation
  1. Insert the Mac OS v10.5 DVD and click the DVD icon to open it.
  2. Double-click Optional Installs in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  3. In the Optional Installs folder, click Optional Installs.mpkg .

  4. Click Continue , read the license agreement that appears, and then click Agree to accept the license agreement.

  5. In the list of printer drivers, scroll down to Hewlett-Packard Printer Drivers , select the check box, and then click Continue .

  6. Click Continue and Install to begin the HP printer driver installation.
Scanning
Scanning is no longer supported when using Mac OS v10.5 with the following products:
  • HP PSC 1100 series
  • HP PSC 1200 series
  • HP PSC 1310 series
  • HP PSC 2110 series
  • HP PSC 2170 series
  • HP PSC 2200 series
  • HP PSC 2310 series
  • HP PSC 2400 series
  • HP Officejet 4100 series
  • HP Officejet 4200 series
  • HP Officejet 5500 series
  • HP Officejet 6100 series
