Introduction

Use this information to identify and setup the wireless print server.

Setting up a new wireless print server

Follow the steps in order to set up the wireless print server.

Step one: Unpack the wireless print server

  1. Remove the HP wireless print server from the box.
  2. Remove the packaging material around the wireless print server.

Step two: Install the software

Follow these steps to install the wireless print server software.
CAUTION:Do not connect the wireless print server to an HP product until the software instructs to do so.

For Windows

  1. Make sure the computer is connected to the network.
    NOTE: For the easiest setup, connect the computer wirelessly to the network.
  2. Close the other software programs, especially HP software like the HP Solution Center, Toolbox, and HP Director.
  3. Insert the Wireless Print Server CD.

  4. Click Install to install the software.
    Follow the directions on the screen.
  5. When prompted, use the setup cable with the micro-USB connector to connect the wireless print server to the computer.
  6. Plug in the power cord for the wireless print server.
    When the computer recognizes the wireless print server, click Next.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    NOTE:You may need the SSID and password for the network. If necessary, get these from the person who set up the network.
  8. When prompted, remove the setup cable from the wireless print server and computer, and then click Next.
  9. Attach the wireless print server to the HP product using the standard USB cable.
  10. Make sure the HP product and the wireless print server are both on.
    When the computer recognizes the HP product, click Next.
  11. Click Finish to complete the installation.
    NOTE:Make sure the For best results, allow all users full printer access check box is selected. If this box is unchecked, only an administrator can restart the HP product if it pauses while running out of paper or due to other causes.

For Macintosh

  1. Make sure the computer is connected to the network.
    NOTE: For the easiest setup, connect the computer wirelessly to the network.
  2. Close the other software programs, especially HP software like the HP Solution Center, Toolbox, and HP Director.
  3. Insert the Wireless Print Server CD.

  4. On the desktop, click My Computer, click the appropriate drive letter for the CD drive, and then click the HP Installer.
  5. Click Install to install the software.
    Follow the directions on the screen.
  6. If a Select Printer screen appears, select the My device is not listed check box, and then click Next.
  7. When prompted, use the setup cable with the micro-USB connector to connect the wireless print server to the computer.
  8. Plug in the power cord for the wireless print server.
    When the computer recognizes the wireless print server, click Next.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    NOTE:You may need the SSID and password for the network. If necessary, get these from the person who set up the network.
  10. When prompted, remove the setup cable from the wireless print server and computer, and then click Next.
  11. Attach the wireless print server to the HP product using the standard USB cable.
  12. Make sure the HP product and the wireless print server are both on.
    When the computer recognizes the HP product, click Next.
  13. Click Finish to complete the installation.

Connect to the HP product using Connection Manager

If the HP product software is already installed on the computer, do the following.
  1. Right-click the Connection Manager icon on the System Tray.

  2. Select Connect. The icon would change to show a successful connection.

If you need to install the HP product software, use the following directions.
  1. Leave the HP product attached to the wireless print server.
  2. Insert the HP product software CD or start the print driver installation.
  3. When the software asks to plug in the USB cable, do the following.
    1. Right-click the Connection Manager icon on the System Tray.

    2. Select Connect. The icon would change to show a successful connection.
