This document pertains to HP Notebook PCs with the HP Startup Support Environment.
To access the UEFI System Information, turn on the computer and immediately press the
esc
key to display the Startup Menu, and then press the
F1
key to view the system information.
The (F1) System Information is also displayed in a different format within the (F2) System Diagnostics function. The fields of information displayed may be different based on the model.
Any of the information described in the table below may be required if you contact a customer support representative.
System Information field descriptions
| System Information Field | Field Description |
|---|---|
| Notebook Model | The model name of the computer. |
| Product Number | An identifier unique to this product line. Also called a SKU number. The format of the product's SKU number is similar to 12345#aba. Use this number to find product specific information and identify drivers and downloads on hp.com web site. The product number and the serial number, are the two most important pieces of information that you need when contacting HP for support or parts. |
| Serial Number | An identifier unique to the individual computer. The product number and the serial number, are the two most important pieces of information that you need when contacting HP for support or parts. |
| Warranty Start Date | The start date of the warranty for the computer. If the computer was manufactured prior to 2008, the warranty start date may be called a Service ID for your particular model. If the warranty start date is different from what you expected to see, note that this date is set the first time that you start up the computer. Your receipt is always the final proof of purchase for warranty services. Date Format = yyyymmdd |
| System Board ID | A plug-and-play system board identification number. |
| Product Configuration ID | A 25 character code written during the manufacturing process that relates to serial number, product name, and product number. |
| System Board CT | The 10th and 11th digits of System Board Commodity Tracking number (WW) indicate the week of manufacture. Other digits are reserved for internal company data tracking. XXXXXXXXXWWXXX |
| BIOS Version | Version information about the BIOS that is installed on the computer. |
| BIOS Date | Date the version of the BIOS was released for use on the computer. |
| Processor Type | The name and manufacturer of the processor on the computer. |
| Processor Speed | Information about the speed of the processor on the computer. |
| Total Memory | Provides information about the amount of RAM that is installed on the computer. |
| Primary Battery SN | An identifier unique to the battery installed. |
| Secondary Battery SN | An identifier unique to the battery installed. |
| WLAN FCC ID: | Required regulatory coding if device is present |
| Bluetooth FCC ID | Required regulatory coding if device is present |
| WWAN FCC ID | Required regulatory coding if device is present |
Install updated UEFI tools and BIOS
For supported models, download and install the updated HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) tools and updated BIOS. Go to the
HP Software & Driver Downloads
web site, enter your Model Number (see label on bottom of case) and the current operating system. From the listed items, download and install the updated software in the following order:
- System BIOS
- HP System Diagnostics (UEFI)
When prompted to either Run or Save the file, select the option to
Save
the file to your desktop. Then, double-click the downloaded file to install the updated software.
