HP Smart Web Printing Software Replaced by HP Smart Print

Introduction

HP Smart Print is HP's new Web page printing software, supported in 32-bit Internet Explorer (IE) versions 6 through 9.
HP Smart Print replaces HP Smart Web Printing Software, which was only supported in 32-bit IE versions 6 through 8. If you try to run HP Smart Web Printing in 32-bit IE 9, the program will not open, and an error message might display on the computer.
NOTE: HP Smart Web Printing is no longer available for download.
In your Internet Explorer browser, click Help, and then click About Internet Explorer. If the version is Internet Explorer only, you have the 32-bit version. If the version is Internet Exploer 64-bit version, you have the 64-bit version.
To start using HP Smart Print, first uninstall the HP Smart Web Printing software, and then download the new HP Smart Print software.

Step one: Uninstall HP Smart Web Printing software

Click the plus sign ( ) next to your operating system, and then complete the steps to uninstall HP Smart Web Printing.
    On the Windows taskbar, click Start , and then click Control Panel . Double-click Add or Remove Programs . Click HP Smart Web Printing (your version), and then click Remove . Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the program.
    On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), click Control Panel , click Programs , click Programs and Features , and then click Uninstall a Program . Click on HP Smart Web Printing (your version), and then click Uninstall/Change . Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the program.
    On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), click Control Panel , click Programs , click Programs and Features , and then click Uninstall a Program . Click on HP Smart Web Printing (your version), and then click Uninstall/Change . Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the program.

Step two: Download and install the new HP Smart Print program

HP Smart Print supports 32-bit Internet Explorer version 9 and earlier.
Follow these steps to download and install HP Smart Print.
  1. Click this link, HP Smart Print to open the File Download window.
  2. In the 32-bit Internet Explorer Security window, click Run .
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
  4. After the installation is complete, open 32-bit Internet Explorer.
  5. Right-click the top bar of 32-bit Internet Explorer to open the drop-down list, and then click Command bar .

Follow these steps to use HP Smart Print.
  1. Click the HP Smart Print icon ( ) on the Command bar to open the program.

    HP Smart Print selects an initial print area, and then you format the final page.
  2. Click and drag the thick border around the Web page to resize the printout.
  3. Highlight an area to add or remove.
  4. Click Preview or Print .
Follow these steps to download and install HP Smart Print.

Step one: Download and install HP Smart Print

HP Smart Print supports 32-bit Internet Explorer version 9 and earlier.
Follow these steps to download and install HP Smart Print.
  1. Click this link, HP Smart Print to open the File Download window.
  2. In the 32-bit Internet Explorer Security window, click Run .
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
  4. After the installation is complete, open 32-bit Internet Explorer.
  5. Right-click the top bar of 32-bit Internet Explorer to open the drop-down list, and then click Command bar .

Step two: Use HP Smart Print

Follow these steps to use HP Smart Print.
  1. Click the HP Smart Print icon ( ) on the Command bar to open the program.

HP Smart Web Printing supports 32-bit IE versions 6 through 8. HP still supports HP Smart Web Printing software. You can still use the program in 32-bit IE 6 through 8, but is no longer available as a download.
HP Smart Print is HP's new and improved Web page printing software. HP Smart Print supports 32-bit IE versions 6 through 9.
Both HP Smart Web Printing and HP Smart Print include the following features:
  • Prevents the right edge of a page from cutting off
  • Automatically adjusts Web pages to fit the width of plain white U.S. letter, or A4-sized paper
  • Reduces waste by eliminating trailing pages that have only a few lines
  • Saves time, paper, and ink
