Is My Windows 32-bit or 64-bit?

This document only applies to HP printers used with computers running Windows operating systems.
Some software and drivers install only on 32-bit types of Windows, some work only in 64-bit Windows, and many types of software work in either environment. To download software and drivers from HP software download sites, you might be required to select a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows. In order to make a proper software download selection from the HP website, you need to know the type of Windows on your computer.
To determine if your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit, check the system properties.

  1. Right-click Start or the lower left corner of the screen, and then click System. The System window opens.
  2. Your system type is shown under the System heading, next to the label "System Type".
    NOTE:If your operating system does not include (64-bit) or (32-bit) in the name, the system type is 32-bit.
