Update Your Computer to Prevent Problems (Windows 7, Vista, XP)

To keep your computer operating efficiently and to prevent problems, use the maintenance and troubleshooting tools provided by Microsoft and HP to automatically update important files and programs.

Run HP Assistant to update HP software and drivers.

Run Windows Update to update operating system and software.

Run your preferred anti-virus program to remove any virus to keep the computer hardware and software functioning correctly.

1. Download and install latest version of HP Support Assistant .

2. Launch HP Support Assistant and run Tune-up from HP Support Assistant to update BIOS and HP drivers.

Step 1 - Click Start , All Programs , HP , HP Support Assistant

Step 2 - Select Maintain , then click Tune up

3. Launch Windows Update to update Windows drivers and software.

Step 1 - Click Start , All Programs , Windows Update .

Step 2 - Select Check for updates .

4. Update your anti-virus protection and scan for virus, spyware, and malware.

Windows Vista

1. Download and install HP Help and Support and HP Active Support Library .

2. Launch HP Help and Support and run Troubleshooting Tools to update BIOS and HP drivers.

Step 1 - Click Start and then Help and Support .

Step 2 - Click Troubleshooting Tools to display a list of HP Troubleshooting tools, and run HP Health Check and Performance and maintenance tools

3. Launch Windows Update to update Windows drivers and software.

Step 1 - Click Start , All Programs , Windows Update .

Step 2 - Select Check for updates .

4. Update your anti-virus protection and scan for virus, spyware, and malware.
