Windows 7 (64-bit Only): The Printer Stops Working and is Not in the Devices and Printers Menu
After installing the printer on a network, you turn the computer off and then on, and the printer loses functionality. The printer no longer prints and the printer icon disappears from the Devices and Printers menu in Windows 7 (64-bit).
HP has released a critical update to resolve a network connectivity issue with the 64-bit Windows 7 HP driver for your printer.
Solution: Download and install a software update
Follow these steps to download and install this update.
NOTE:This update is for an existing printer installation only. This update cannot be used as an initial printer installation.
- Turn on the printer.
- Click this link: Windows 7 Critical Update to enhance reliability of network connection .
- Click Download , and then follow the on-screen instructions to save the software to your computer.
- Open the folder where the software file saved (usually Downloads ), double-click the file, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
