Microsoft Office Starter 2010 Edition includes Microsoft Word Starter and Excel Starter, simplified versions of Word and Excel. Office Starter does not include PowerPoint, OneNote, or Outlook. Purchase Microsoft Office to activate the full-featured software.
Follow these steps to purchase a product key for the full version of Office 2010. If you already have a product key, see the Activating the full version of Office 2010
section of this document.
Click Start

, and then click Microsoft Office 2010
.
Click Purchase
.

A Web browser opens to a Microsoft Web page where you can purchase the full version of Office 2010.
You can also open the Web page by clicking Purchase
on the Home tab of Excel Starter or Word Starter.
If you purchased an Office 2010 product key online, you can activate the full version by following these steps. If you do not have a product key, but would like to purchase one, see the Purchasing the full version of Office 2010
section of this document.
Click Start

, and then click Microsoft Office 2010

—You can view but not create these items.
Comments
—You can format or edit existing comments, but cannot create or delete comments.
Track changes
—You can view changes, but cannot accept or reject the changes.
Protection
—You cannot turn protection on or off.
Bookmarks
—You can use existing bookmarks, but cannot create them.

Column and row headings
—You can show or hide but cannot create headings.
Comments

—You cannot freeze or unfreeze panes.
Microsoft Office Starter To-Go Device Manager places the Microsoft Office Starter programs on a USB flash drive. You can use this flash drive to run Microsoft Office Starter on any computer using Microsoft Windows Vista or later.
NOTE:The computer must be connected to the Internet for Office Starter To-Go Device Manager to download the required files.
Follow these steps to place Office Starter on a USB flash drive:
Connect a USB flash drive to a USB port on the computer.
Click Start
, All Programs
, Microsoft Office Starter
, Microsoft Office 2010 Tools
, and then click Microsoft Office Starter To-Go Device Manager
.

Click Start
.
The Office Starter Device Manager downloads program files.

When the Office Starter Device Manager finishes downloading the files, select the USB flash drive where you want to save Office Starter, then click Install
.

When the installation is complete, click Create Another Device
to install Office Starter onto another USB flash drive, or click Close
to finish.

To open Office Starter on a different computer, connect the USB flash drive, navigate to the drive in Windows Explorer, then click Office Starter
.
