Introduction
This document provides instructions for loading and printing on the following types of media.
- Plain paper
- Photo paper
- Envelopes
- Special media
Follow these steps to load, and then print on plain paper.

The following video demonstrates how to load paper.
Step one: Load the paper
- Lift the access cover.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn on the product, if it is not already on. - Lift the paper tray.
NOTE:Do not use torn or wrinkled paper, paper on a roll, or paper that is clipped or stapled. - Tap a stack of plain, white, unused paper on a hard surface to align the edges.
- Load the stack of paper print-side up into the tray, and then adjust the paper width guide so it fits snugly against the side of the paper.
Step two: Change the print settings and print
Choose your operating system, and then follow the steps to change the print settings, and then start the print job.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
- Click Properties or Preferences .
- Click the Features tab.
- In the Paper type drop-down list, select Plain paper .
- In the Size drop-down list, select the size of the paper you are printing on.
- Click OK , and then click OK on the Print window. The document prints.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , Page Setup . The Page Setup window opens.
- In the Format for pop-up menu, select the name of your product.
- In the Paper Size pop-up menu, select the size of the paper you are printing on, and then click OK .
- Click File , and then click Print .
- Next to the Printer drop-down menu, click the Down Arrow (
) to open the print job settings. - Adjust the print settings that you want to change.
- Click Print . The document prints.
Follow these steps to load, and then print on photo paper.
Step one: Load the photo paper
- Lift the paper tray.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn on the product, if it is not already on. - Slide the paper width guide to its outermost position.
- Insert the photo paper, with the print side facing towards you. Align it squarely against the paper guide.
- Adjust the paper width guide so it rests snugly against the side of the paper. The photo guide on the right automatically moves into place as you slide the paper width guide.
Step two: Change the print settings and print
Choose your operating system, and then follow the steps to change the print settings, and then start the print job.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
- Click Properties or Preferences .
- Click the Features tab.
- In the Paper type drop-down list, click More , and then select the type of photo paper you are printing on.
- In the Size drop-down list, click More , and then select the size of the photo paper you are printing on.
- Click OK , and then click OK on the Print window. The photo prints.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , Page Setup . The Page Setup window opens.
- In the Format for pop-up menu, select the name of your product.
- In the Paper Size pop-up menu, select the size of the photo paper you are printing on, and then click OK .
- Click File , and then click Print .
- Next to the Printer drop-down menu, click the Down Arrow (
) to open the print job settings. - In the pop-up menu below the orientation selections, click Paper Type/Quality .
- In the Paper Type pop-up menu, click Photo paper , and then select the size and type of photo paper you are printing on.
- Click Print . The document prints.
Follow the steps below to load, and then print envelopes.

NOTE:Avoid selecting envelopes that have a very slick finish, self-stick
adhesives, clasps, or windows. Also, avoid envelopes with thick, irregular, or curled
edges, or areas that are wrinkled, torn, or otherwise damaged.
Make sure that the envelopes you use are tightly constructed and that the
folds are sharply creased.
Step one: Load the envelopes
- Lift the paper tray.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn on the product, if it is not already on. - Slide the paper width guide to its outermost position.
NOTE:If you are using larger-sized envelopes, pull the paper tray up to extend it. - Insert the envelopes with the flaps facing down and the smooth side facing up.
- Adjust the paper width guide so it rests snugly against the side of the envelopes
Step two: Change the print settings and print
Choose your operating system, and then follow the steps to change the print settings, and then start the print job.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
- Click Properties or Preferences .
- Click the Features tab.
- Select Landscape .
- In the Size drop-down list, click More , and then select the envelope type you are printing on.
- Click OK , and then click OK on the Print window. The envelope prints.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , Page Setup . The Page Setup window opens.
- In the Format for pop-up menu, select the name of your product.
- In the Paper Size pop-up menu, select the envelope type you are printing on, and then click OK .
- Click File , and then click Print .
- Next to the Printer drop-down menu, click the Down Arrow (
) to open the print job settings. - Adjust the print settings that you want to change.
- Click Print . The envelope prints.
Follow the steps below to load, and then print with special and larger media sizes.
Step one: Load the media
- Lift the paper tray.
- Press the Power button (
) to turn on the product, if it is not already on. - Slide the paper width guide to its outermost position.
NOTE:If you are using larger-sized media, pull up the paper tray to extend it. - Insert the media, with the print side facing towards you. Align it squarely against the paper guide.
- Adjust the paper width guide so it rests snugly against the side of the media.
Step two: Change the print settings and print
Choose your operating system, and then follow the steps to change the print settings, and then start the print job.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
- Click Properties or Preferences .
- Click the Features tab.
- In the Paper type drop-down list, click More , and then select the type of media you are printing on.
- In the Size drop-down list, click Custom , enter the custom width and length of the media, and then click OK .
- Click OK , and then click OK on the Print window. The document prints.
- In the software program you are printing from, click File , Page Setup . The Page Setup window opens.
- In the Format for pop-up menu, select the name of your product.
- In the Paper Size pop-up menu, click Manage Custom Sizes , enter the custom media width, height, and margins, and then click OK .
- Click File , and then click Print .
- Next to the Printer drop-down menu, click the Down Arrow (
) to open the print job settings. - In the pop-up menu below the orientation selections, click Paper Type/Quality .
- In the Paper Type pop-up menu, click Specialty paper and then select the type of media you are printing on.
- Click Print . The document prints.
