Printing on Both Sides of the Paper (Duplexing) in Windows for HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Series

Introduction

The print driver allows you to print on both sides of a sheet of paper (duplexing). This document provides instructions to print on both sides manually and automatically in Microsoft Windows, depending on your product. Not all products have duplexing capability.

Follow these steps to print on both sides of the paper manually.

Step one: Load the paper

Follow these steps to load paper in the product.
  1. If the paper tray door is closed, open the paper tray door, and then pull out the paper tray.
  2. Slide the paper width guides to their outermost positions.

  3. Load a stack of plain paper into the tray with the short edge facing toward the product and the print side down (if the paper has a print side). Push the stack into the tray until it stops.

  4. Slide the paper width guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.

  5. Close the paper tray, and then pull open and lift the paper tray extender until it is fully extended.

Step two: Set the print preferences and print

Follow these steps to set the print preferences, and then print.
  1. Open the document to print.
  2. In the software program, click File, and then click Print.
  3. In the Print window, click Preferences, and then click Advanced.
  4. In the Advanced Options window, click Print All Pages, and then click Print Odd Pages Only.
  5. Click OK to close the Advanced Option window, click OK to close the Printing Preferences window, and then click OK to print.
  6. When printing stops, remove the printouts from the tray.
  7. Reorder the printed pages so that the first printed page is on the top of the stack.
  8. Reload the printouts in the paper tray, print side up, with the top of the pages feeding into the product.
  9. Open the document to print, if it is not already open.
  10. In the software program, click File, and then click Print.
  11. In the Print window, click Preferences, and then click Advanced.
  12. In the Advanced Options window, click Print All Pages, and then select Print Even Pages Only.
  13. Click OK to close the Advanced Option window, click OK to close the Printing Preferences window, and then click OK to print.
Follow these steps to use the auto duplex option in the print driver to print on both sides of the paper.

  5. Close the paper tray, and then pull open and lift the paper tray extender until it is fully extended.

Step two: Set the print preferences and print

Follow these steps to set the print preferences, and then print.
  1. Open the document to print.
  2. In the software program, click File, and then click Print.
  3. In the Print window, click Preferences, and then click Print on Both Sides.
  4. Select either Flip on Long Edge or Flip on Short Edge from the drop-down list, and then click OK to close the Printing Preferences window.
  5. Click OK to print.
