Checking Ink Levels for HP Photosmart 7510 (C311a) e-All-in-One Printer Series

This document is for the HP Photosmart 7510 e-All-in-One Printer Series.
Follow the steps in one of the following methods to check the ink levels for your product. Check the ink levels to determine how soon you might need to replace a cartridge. The ink level shows an estimate of the amount of ink remaining in the cartridges.
NOTE:Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low-ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. You do not need to replace cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable.

Checking ink levels

Follow one of these methods to check the estimated ink levels.
NOTE:If you installed a refilled or a remanufactured cartridge, or a cartridge that was used in another printer, the ink level indicator might be inaccurate or unavailable.
From the control panel home screen, touch the Ink icon (). The current ink levels display.
Select your operating system for steps to check ink estimated levels using the HP software.
Follow these steps to check estimated ink levels in Windows.
  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the HP product, and then make sure the product is connected to the computer.
  2. Open the HP software:
      Click Start (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your HP product, and then click the name of your HP product.
      Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your HP product, and then click the name of your HP product.
    NOTE:You can also open the product software from your computer desktop by double-clicking the icon for your HP product ().
  3. Under Shopping Resources, click Estimated Ink Levels. The estimated ink levels display.

Choose one of the following options to check the ink levels from the software.
Follow these steps to check the ink levels from HP Utility.
NOTE:HP Utility is available only if you selected Add HP Utility to Dock during the software installation.
  1. Use one of the following methods to open HP Utility:
      Choose the steps for your Mac OS.
        1. On the main menu, click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
        2. Click Print & Fax. The Print & Fax window opens.
        3. Under Printers, click your product, if more than one printer is listed.
        4. Click Open Print Queue. The Print Queue window opens.
        5. Click Utility. HP Utility opens.
        1. On the main menu, click the Apple icon (), and then click System Preferences.
        2. Click Print & Fax. The Print & Fax window opens.
        3. Under Printers, click your product, if more than one printer is listed.
        4. Click Printer Setup.
        5. Click the Utility tab.
        6. Click Open Printer Utility. The HP Utility opens.
      1. Click the HP Utility icon in the Dock. The HP Utility opens.
      2. Under Printers, click your product, if more than one printer is listed. HP Utility opens.
  2. Under Information and Support, click Supplies Status. The estimated ink levels display.
Use one of the following methods to open HP Ink Widget and check the ink levels.
NOTE:HP Ink Widget is available only if you selected Add HP Ink Widget to Dashboard during the software installation.
Click the Dashboard icon in the dock. The estimated ink levels display.

Use one of the following methods to open HP Ink Widget from a keyboard.
  • Mac keyboard: Press the Dashboard key on the keyboard
    The estimated ink levels display.
  • Other keyboards: Press the F12 key.
    The estimated ink levels display.
Follow these steps to print a printer status report.
  1. Load plain, white paper in the paper tray.
  2. On the product control panel, touch the Setup icon ().
  3. Touch Tools, and then touch Printer Status Report. The product prints a Printer Status Report.

Purchasing cartridges

To purchase cartridges or check cartridge compatibility for your printer, go to HP Home & Home Office Store (US only), and then click Ink Toner & Paper.
If you are located outside of the US, follow these steps to purchase cartridges using HP SureSupply.
  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and make sure that the country/region location is correct.
Genuine HP cartridges can also be purchased from other retailers.
Consult the following table to identify the correct cartridges for your area.
