Introduction

This document answers the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the HP All-in-One Printer Remote
formerly called HP Printer Control
mobile app for Apple and Android mobile devices.

  • Camera-enabled intelligent mobile scanning : Create high-quality documents from your mobile device. Intelligent mobile scanner technology automatically processes images taken by your mobile device's camera to create documents. You can save documents as PDF or JPEG to share, store, or print from your device. Intelligent mobile scanning requires a camera with a minimum of 5 megapixels and auto-focus capability.
  • Control your printer from your mobile device : Use the screen on your mobile device to control printer scan and print functions. Send scans directly to your mobile device from your printer. Print status reports, photos, PDFs, webpages, email attachments, Microsoft Office documents and more from virtually anywhere. Print times and connection speeds might vary.
  • Cloud document storage services : Access cloud document storage services such as iCloud, Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, or social media sites including Facebook. Document access to cloud services requires an Internet connection. Cloud access might also require a wireless access point.
NOTE:
  • Mobile devices must have an Internet connection and email capability.
  • Scan and copy control requires that the mobile device and printer be on the same wireless network or have a wireless-direct connection to the printer.
  • Printing requires an Internet connection to an HP web-enabled printer and HP ePrint account registration.
  • A third-party subscription with a service contract might need to be purchased separately or usage fees might apply to cloud or print services.

You need an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 4.3 or later.
You can install the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 4.3 or later.
Follow these steps to download and install the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.
  1. Open iTunes on your computer.
  2. Click iTunes Store from the left pane to open the iTunes Store.
  3. In the Search feature, type HP All-in-One Printer Remote , and then press Return .
  4. In the Search results section, find the app, and then click the Free button.
  5. If prompted, provide your iTunes account information, and then click OK .
  6. When prompted, type your ePrint account address to register the app.

You can print wirelessly with the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app to any supported HP printer that is on the same wireless network as your mobile device. Follow these steps to add a printer to your mobile device.
  1. On your mobile device, tap AiO Remote .
  2. If necessary, tap Home at the bottom of the app.
  3. Tap the list of available printers.
  4. Tap the printer that you want to add to your mobile device.
NOTE:The printer that you add must be an HP ePrint-enabled printer connected to your wireless network.
Use one of the following methods to uninstall the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.
  1. On your Apple device, tap and hold the AiO Remote icon until all the icons on the screen begin to wiggle.
  2. Tap the X in the corner of the AiO Remote icon.
  3. Tap Delete , and then press the Home button to finish uninstalling.
  1. Open iTunes on your computer.
  2. Click Apps , and then click the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.
  3. From the Edit menu, click Delete , and then click Delete App .
The HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app continues to print if you receive an incoming call or text message. However, if you choose to answer or respond, the print job cancels.
Connect your mobile device to the wireless network or WLAN, using your router as an access point.
After your mobile device connects to the network, open the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app, and then select your printer. You are now ready to print from your mobile device.
Possible reasons your mobile device cannot find the HP printer include the following situations.
  • The printer is not supported by the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.
  • Your mobile device is not connected to the wireless network.
  • Your mobile device is connected to the wrong wireless network.
  • The printer is turned off.
  • The printer is not connected to the wireless network.
  • The printer is connected to the wrong wireless network.

No. You can only print directly to supported HP printers on a local wireless network. You can print via email using a 3G or 4G cellular data connection if your mobile device and ePrint-enabled printer are activated with HP ePrint. If activated with HP ePrint, the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app supports PPL and HP ePrint Enterprise printing via 3G or 4G cellular data connections.
You might not be able to print to your printer for one of the following reasons.
  • The printer is turned off.
  • There is an issue with the printer, such as a paper jam or the cover is open.
  • The ePrint feature on the printer is turned off.
  • Your mobile device is not activated with the ePrint web service.
  • The printer is not shared over the wireless network.
  • The HP ePrint mobile app is not correctly installed.
  • The printer is not connected to the wireless network.

You can install the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app on an Android Smartphone or Tablet running Android OS 2.3.8 or later.
Follow these steps to download and install the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.
  1. On your Android device Home screen, touch the Play Store icon, and then touch Apps .
  2. In the Search feature, type HP printer app .
  3. Tap HP All-in-One Printer Remote .
  4. Tap Install , and then tap OK to download and then install the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.

Follow these steps to uninstall the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app.
  1. From your Android device Home screen, tap Manage Applications .
  2. Tap the Downloads tab.
  3. Tap the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app, and then tap the Uninstall button.
  4. Tap OK to confirm the HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app is uninstalled.
The HP All-in-One Printer Remote mobile app continues to print if you receive an incoming call or text message. However, if you choose to answer or respond, the print job cancels.
