UISERVE.DLL Not Found Error When Starting Simple Backup or Disaster Recovery

Introduction
When launching Disaster Recovery or Simple Backup, the error message UISERVE.DLL was not found is displayed.
The UISERVE.DLL file and perhaps other .DLL files did not install into the proper directory. Use the following steps to copy the files into the correct location.
Step 1: Configure Windows Explorer to view all files.
Locate the operating system that is being used in the table below and follow the steps to configure Explorer.
Windows 98 / Windows NT Windows Me / Windows 2000 / Windows XP
  1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop to open an Explorer window.
  2. Click View , choose Folder Optionsandclick theView tab.
  3. Under Files and Folders, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file typesbox.
  4. Under Hidden files , put a mark in Show all Files .
  5. Click OK to close Folder Options.
  1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop or click Start and My Computer to open an Explorer window depending on the operating system.
  2. Click Tools , choose Folder Optionsand click the Viewtab.
  3. Under Files and Folders , uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types .
  4. Under Hidden files and folders , put a mark in Show hidden files and folders .
  5. Click OK to close Folder Options.
Step 2: Copy the UISERVE.DLL file into the Disaster Recovery or Simple Backup folder
Simple Backup Disaster Recovery
  1. Using Windows Explorer, browse to the folder where Simple Backup is installed. Possible locations are listed below:
    • C:\Program Files\Simple Backup
    • C:\Program Files\HP CD Writer\HP Simple Backup.
  2. Double-click the Systemfolder within the Simple Backup folder.
  3. Click the UISERVE.DLLfile once to highlight it.
  4. Click Editon the menu bar and choose Copy .
  5. Move back to the the Simple Backup folder and click Editon the menu bar and choose Paste . This copies the UISERVE.DLL file into the Simple Backup folder.
  6. Close Explorer and start Simple Backup.
  7. If the error persists, repeat the steps above copying all the .DLL files from the System folder to the Simple Backup folder and start Simple Backup again.

    • C:\Program Files\HP CD Writer Plus\Disaster Recovery
  2. Double-click the Systemfolder within the Disaster Recovery folder.
  3. Click the UISERVE.DLL file once to highlight it.
  4. Click Editon the menu bar and choose Copy .
  5. Move back to the the Disaster Recovery folder and click Editon the menu bar and choose Paste . This copies the UISERVE.DLL file into the Disaster Recovery folder.
  6. Close Explorer and start Disaster Recovery.
  7. If the error persists, repeat the steps above copying all the .DLL files from the System folder to the Disaster Recover folder and start Disaster Recovery again.
