Introduction
This document describes how to find the model number of your Deskjet printer. If your printer also has scanning, faxing, and copying functionality, click here to learn how to find the model number on an HP Deskjet All-in-One (c01105883) (in English).
There are several methods for finding the model number on your product. As described in this document, model numbers are commonly located on the body of the product.
A model number is a unique numeric or alphanumeric code used to identify a particular version of a product. For example, the same series of a Deskjet printer may have several different models with varying features.

The following are example model numbers that may look similar to the model number on your product:
  • HP Deskjet D4200 Printer
  • HP Deskjet 5940 Printer
  • HP Deskjet 310 Printer
How do I find my model number?
Use one of the following methods to identify the model number on your product.
Method one: Locate the number on the front of the printer in the lower right corner

Method two: Automatically detect the model number
NOTE: The HP Product Detection tool is not available in all countries and is only compatible with Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 and above.
If you cannot locate the model number on the body of the product, use HP's automatic product-detection tool to determine the model number.

  1. Click the Support & Drivers link on the top of this page.
  2. Under Or Automatically detect product names/numbers: , click Start Detection .
