Turning On/Off a Back Lit Keyboard

Understanding the back lit keyboard

If your notebook PC has a back lit keyboard, a lighted keyboard icon may appear on the left side of the space bar. It is best to use the back light in dimmer lighting situations.

Toggling the back lit keyboard

To turn the keyboard back light on or off, use one of the following methods depending on your model.
  • Press and hold the fn key and then press the space bar .
  • Press the F5 key.

  • Press the special key dedicated to turning on and off the back light.

  • On some models, the back light key is f12 .
