Introduction
This document answers some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the HP ePrint mobile app for Apple and Android mobile devices.

NOTE:Some applications are similar to HP ePrint, but they are not actually the same as the most current HP ePrint mobile app. Make sure that the HP ePrint icon displays on your mobile device.

depend on whether or not you have activated (registered) your mobile device at ePrintCenter.
These features are available for the HP ePrint mobile app on mobile devices that are activated
at ePrintCenter.
- Print by emailing print jobs to your HP printer.
NOTE:The HP printer, which might be located some distance away, must be connected to a network with Internet access. - Monitor the status for print jobs sent to the HP printer.
- Print Web pages.
- Print Microsoft Office suite (Windows and Mac) documents, including those received as Mail attachments.
- Set up the HP printer for printing even when you are traveling.
- Print directly to a Wi-Fi-enabled HP printer on a local wireless network.
- Print to a public print PPL service provider, such as a nearby UPS or FedEx store.
- Print via HP Enterprise services, if your company is registered with the HP ePrint Enterprise service.
- Print photos.
- Print PDFs, including those received as Mail attachments.
- Print text (TXT) files, including those received as Mail attachments.
- Autodiscover HP ePrinter for setup.
- Edit photos before printing.
- Specify main tray or photo tray, depending on the HP printer.
- Specify print settings.
These features are available for the HP ePrint mobile app on mobile devices that are not activated
at ePrintCenter.
- Print directly to a Wi-Fi-enabled HP printer on a local wireless network.
- Print to a public print PPL service provider, such as a nearby FedEx or UPS store.
- Print via HP Enterprise services, if your company is registered with the HP ePrint Enterprise service.
- Print photos.
- Print PDFs, including those received as Mail attachments.
- Print text (TXT) files, including those received as Mail attachments.

Follow these steps to activate the HP ePrint mobile app for your device.
Use the following steps to Activate
the mobile app with HP ePrintCenter.
- On your Apple device, tap the HP ePrint icon, and then tap Activate .
- Type your email address in the Activate using your email box, and then tap Activate .
- Check your email. The HP ePrint service will send you an email containing an Activation Code.
- Write down the Activation Code.
- On the Apple device, press the Home button (
) twice, and then tap HP ePrint
. - Type the Activation Code into the box, and then tap Activate .The app displays a message to confirm activation.
Use the following steps to Activate
the mobile app with HP ePrintCenter.
- On your mobile device, tap the HP ePrint icon, and then tap Activate .
- Type your email address in the Activate using your email box, and then tap Activate .
- Check your email. The HP ePrint service will send you an email containing an Activation Code.
- Write down the Activation Code.
- On the mobile device, press the Home button (
) twice, and then tap HP ePrint
. - Type the Activation Code into the box, and then tap Activate .The app displays a message to confirm activation.
You can install HP ePrint
on an iPad, iPhone, iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later, or an Android mobile device running OS 2.2 or later.

You can print wirelessly with the HP ePrint
mobile app to any supported Web-enabled HP printer that is on the same local Wi-Fi network as your mobile device. If you activate your mobile device at ePrintCenter, you can email print jobs to any supported Web-enabled HP printer for which you have been given the email address.

Use one of the following methods to add an HP printer to your mobile device.

NOTE:The HP printer that you add must be an HP web-enabled ePrinter.
Use the following steps to select the HP ePrinter from the list of available printers. This method will only work if you have already been added to the Allowed Senders List
of one or more of the listed HP ePrinters.
- On your mobile device, tap HP ePrint .
- Tap your selected printer. If no printers are available, tap No printers found .
- Tap the Plus icon (
) to display the Add ePrinter
screen. - Type your HP ePrinter email address, and then tap to select the name when it appears in the list of available printers.
- Tap Add to confirm the printer.
- Make sure that you have met the following conditions:
- The HP printer is in Open Mode .
- The HP printer and your mobile device are connected to the Internet.
- You have the email address of the HP printer that you want to add.
- On your mobile device, tap HP ePrint .
- Tap ePrint , and then tap Manage ePrinters .
- Tap the Plus sign (
) to display the Add ePrinter
screen, and then tap Add Manually
. - Type the email address of the HP printer, and then tap Search . The HP printer is now added to the HP ePrinters list.
- Make sure that you have met the following conditions:
- The HP printer is in Open Mode .
- The HP printer and your mobile device are connected to the Internet.
- On your mobile device, tap HP ePrint .
- Tap ePrint , and then tap Manage ePrinters .
- Tap the Plus icon (
) to display the Add ePrinter
screen, and then tap Add from Wi-Fi Network
. - Select the HP printer name from the list of detected printers, and then tap Done .
Use one of the following methods to uninstall the HP ePrint mobile app from your Apple or Android device.
Use the following options to uninstall the HP ePrint mobile app using one of your Apple mobile devices.
- On your Apple device, tap and hold the HP ePrint icon until all the icons on the screen begin to wiggle.
- Tap the X in the corner of the HP ePrint app.
- Tap Delete , and then press the Home button to finish uninstalling.
- Open iTunes on your computer.
- Click Apps , and then click HP ePrint .
- From the Edit menu, click Delete , and then click Delete App .
- Connect your mobile device to the computer.
- Select your mobile device in the left pane of iTunes, click the Apps tab, click Apply , and then click Sync .

Use the following option to uninstall the HP ePrint mobile app using your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
Use the following option to uninstall the HP ePrint mobile app using iTunes on your computer.
Follow these steps to remove the HP ePrint mobile app from the Android device.
- On your Android device, open the Manage Applications screen.
- Tap the Downloads tab.
- Tap HP ePrint , and then tap the Uninstall button.
- Tap OK to confirm that the HP ePrint mobile app is uninstalled.
The HP ePrint
mobile app continues to print if you receive an incoming call or text message. However, if you choose to answer or respond, the print job cancels.
Connect your mobile device to the wireless network or WLAN, using your router as an access point. For more specific information, see the instructions in your mobile device documentation.
After your mobile device connects to the network, open the HP ePrint
mobile app, and then select your printer. You are now ready to print from your mobile device.
Possible causes why your mobile device cannot find the HP printer include the following:
- The HP printer is not supported by the HP ePrint mobile app.
- Your mobile device is not connected to the wireless network.
- Your mobile device is connected to the wrong wireless network.
- The HP printer is off.
- The HP printer is not shared over the wireless network.

The HP ePrint mobile app supports the following languages:
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- Japanese
- Korean
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
No. You can only print directly to supported HP printers on a local wireless network.
You can print via email using a 3G or 4G cellular data connection, if your mobile device and HP ePrinter are activated with HP ePrintCenter. The HP ePrint mobile app also supports PPL and HP ePrint Enterprise printing via 3G or 4G cellular data connections, if activated with HP ePrintCenter.
You might not be able to print to the HP printer for one of the following reasons:
- The HP printer is off.
- There is an issue with the HP printer, such as a paper jam or the cover is open.
- The ePrint feature is off on the HP printer.
- Your mobile device is not activated with ePrintCenter.
- The HP printer is not shared over the wireless network.
- The HP ePrint mobile app is not correctly installed.
- The HP printer is not connected to the wireless network.
