Features supported by the HP USB driver
The USB driver allows the operating system to detect the drive. The HP CD-Writer drives will function as a standard CD-ROM drive and will be able to read CDs.

Features not supported with the HP USB driver
The HP CD-Writer drive will function as a reader using the USB driver; however, CD recording software is needed to allow the drive to write to CD-R and CD-RW media.
