There are several methods for finding the model number on your product. As described in this document, model numbers are commonly located on the body of the product.
A model number is a unique numeric or alphanumeric code used to identify a particular version of a product. For example, the same series of a product may have several different models with varying features.

Method one: Locate the model number on the product
Listed below are example model numbers that might look similar to the model number on your product:
- HP Deskjet D4200 Printer
- HP Deskjet 5940 Printer
- HP Deskjet 310 Printer
Compare the following model number locations with your product.
If you did not find your model number, proceed to the next method.
Method two: Locate the model name on the product and the model number inside the cartridge door
Some products have a model name located on the front of the product (as in the photos above), and a specific model number located near the cartridges. The specific model number has five characters. For example:
- A809a
- A809c
- A809n
