Description

This is the most current version of HP's Universal Print Driver (UPD). The UPD, available in 32 and 64 bit packages, is a single driver that supports PCL5, PCL6, and HP PostScript; Level 2 and 3 emulation.

Key issues resolved in this release of the HP Universal Print Driver:

14046 Disabled ADMX policy settings are still shown in existing print queues.
14797 Fonts are sent to printer rasterized instead of True Type by default (PCL5 only)
14867 Printing Shortcuts do not save resizing options with custom media sizes
16395 Separator Page user name may be changed to "Admin" when switching print queues
19059 Incorrect/garbled output when printing in color to Future Smart devices (PCL5 only)
19480 CIO dependent files are not updated properly.
19621 When 'print in grayscale' is specified by default and later changed from the application print dialog, the output may still print in grayscale.
20371 The dynamic mode option "Add Printer to Printers & Faxes Folder" is grayed out for non-admin user accounts.

  • Microsoft Windows 8 / 8.1, Pro, Enterprise; 32-bit and 64-bit.   

UPD Traditional Mode:  Windows 8 desktop applications; Modern apps

UPD Dynamic Mode:  Windows 8 desktop applications

  • Microsoft Windows 7 Starter, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate; 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, Home Basic, Home Premium, and Ultimate; 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Home Edition, and Professional; 32-bit and 64-bit. 

 

*Note: Microsoft retired mainstream support for Windows XP in April 2009. HP will continue to provide best effort support the current UPD and tools for the discontinued Windows XP operating system

 

*Note: MSXML Version 6.0 SP1 (MSXML6.1) and later is required before installing UPD 5.6.5 on
