HP Download and Install Assistant
Follow the instructions below to install and run HP Download and Install Assistant using the HP Support Solutions Framework.
HP browser detection did not automatically detect your browser. Select the appropriate option required by your browser for each step listed below.

Instructions
Step 1:  Click on the security prompt which appears at the top of the browser window then click 'Download File…'
Step 2:  If a File Download Security Warning appears, click 'Run' to install the framework.
Step 3:  Click 'OK' to close this window and begin downloading your software.
Step 1:  Click 'Run' on the prompt at the bottom of the browser.
Step 2:  If User Account Control appears, click 'Yes' to install the framework.
Step 3:  Click 'OK' to close this window and begin downloading your software.
Step 1:  Click 'HPSupportSolutions…msi' in the lower-left corner of the browser window
Step 2:  If User Account Control appears, click 'Yes' to install the framework.
Step 3:  Click 'OK' to close this window and begin downloading your software.
Step 1:  Click 'Save File' when prompted
Step 2:  Click the downward-facing arrow in the upper-right corner of the browser, then double-click 'HPSupportSolutionsFramework…'
Step 3:  If User Account Control appears, click 'Yes' to install the framework.
Step 4:  Click 'OK' to close this window and begin downloading your software.
Step 1:  Double-click 'HPSupportSolutionsFramework…' in the upper-right corner of the browser.
Step 2:  If User Account Control appears, click 'Yes' to install the framework.
Step 3:  Click 'OK' to close this window and begin downloading your software.

Before starting the upgrade:
  • The HP Officejet Pro L7700 Firmware flashing (upgrade) requires a wired network or a USB connection.
  • DO NOT upgrade the printer firmware in a wirelessly connected printer.
  • If the computer has a firewall installed or enabled, it may block the Firmware Download Utility from accessing the printer. Therefore, please remember to temporarily disable any firewall that may be on the computer, including firewalls such as Microsoft Windows XP Firewall, Sygate, Zone Alarm or BlackICE.
Install instructions:
    1. Switch on the HP Officejet Pro L7700 series printer and wait until the printer is READY. [The Power light should be on]
    2. Double click on OfficejetProL7700_R2011PxN.exe to launch the HP Firmware Download Utility. A list of HP Officejet Pro L7700 series printers detected will be displayed on the screen.Note: If the Wired network printer you wish to upgrade is not displayed in the detected printer list, click on the Find Printers on Network button to scan for printers connected via the wired network.
    3. Click on the checkboxes on the left to select single or multiple HP Officejet Pro L7700 series printers you wish to upgrade.
    4. Click on the Download button to start the firmware flashing process.
    5. Message showing ""Successfully downloaded firmware to the printer"" will be shown. Firmware flashing will begin.CAUTION! Do not interrupt the printer during the upgrade process. Printer maybe damaged if power is interrupted during the firmware upgrade process.
    6. When the printer has sucessfully completed the flashing process, it will automatically print out a Self Test Diagnostic Page, that will show the new firmware version.

Details and specifications

To check the version of your current printer firmware, use either one of the following options:

Toolbox
1. Go to Solution Centre; select HP Officejet Pro L7700
2. Click on Settings > Printer Toolbox
3. On the Information tab, click Hardware information
4. The current firmware version will appear in the Hardware information dialog box

Printing a Self Test Diagnostic Page
1. Press Setup, select Print Report, select Self-Test Report, and then press OK.
2. The Self Test Diagnostic Page will be printed.
3. The current firmware revision will appear on the printed Self Test Diagnostic Page.
