Description

This download provides the basic software/drivers to use with your HP bt450 and with the Window's Vista Operating System. This download does not include Window's Vista printer software/drivers. Printer specific drivers are included in the Window's Vista Operating System.

Note: The following HP printers are compatible with this software when using your HP bt450 as Bluetooth Adapter for your PC while printing to a 2nd HP bt450 with your HP printer.

HP Photosmart Series 325, C7180, C6180, C7280, D5069, D5160, D7260, D7360, D7460, A430, A510, A618, A700, A826, A626 and the HP Officejet Series 470, 6310.

Please continue to regularly check this web site for updated Software and Information. Updates to Vista compatibility will occur often, so please check back if your HP printer is not listed.

Use these directions to guide you through the self-install process

Installation Instructions

Verify that you have selected the correct software for your Vista upgrade.
  1. Download the Vista version of the HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter Upgrade Software.
    • Select the "Download Only" option from the HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter Software download page.
    • Select "Save" on the File Download - Security Warning Window. (Do not select run)
    • Select a file location to Save to and select "Save". Please remember this location as you may need to access this file to complete the installation. (Do not select "Close this dialog box when download completes".)
    • Select "Run" on the Download complete page. (Do not select "Open folder".)

  2. Install the HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter Vista Software on your PC.
    • a) Select "Install" from the HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter launch page. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the upgrade. Click, "Finish" when the software is installed.

      OR

    • b) If the "Install" option is not available, select the "Uninstall" option. (The install option is not available if the software detects an earlier version of the HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter Software on your computer. This outdated software needs to be removed before the new software can be installed.)

    1. Follow the on screen instructions to uninstall the outdated software.
    2. Select "restart" when the software uninstall is completed.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Go to the location where you saved the HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter Software and double click to launch it. Select "Install" from the Wireless Printer Adapter launch page. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the upgrade. Click, "Finish" when the software installation is completed.

  3. Upgrade the firmware in your HP bt450 Adapter.
    • Return to the HP bt450 Software download web page.
    • Select the HP bt450 product firmware upgrade for Windows Vista.
    • Please follow instructions on the screen to upgrade the bt450 Adapter firmware. Click "Finish" when the software is installed. Your PC and bt450 Adapter are now Vista compatible.

  4. Pair your PC to your Bluetooth devices.

    Open the Bluetooth application by clicking on the new Bluetooth Icon on the task bar and select "Quick connect" or "add a bluetooth device", to find and connect to Bluetooth devices. Please follow the instructions provided with your HP bt450 Printer and PC Adapter.

Congratulations, your product is now configured to work with the Windows Vista Operating System. You may now go back and delete the folder and the file named COL18447.

System requirements

Please make sure that you have a new PC with the Window's Vista Operating System, or that you have successfully up-graded your PC from Windows XP to Windows Vista.

For a successful upgrade you need:

  • A PC that is running the Window's Vista Operating System.
  • An HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter to be plugged into your PC USB Port.
    Please note - No upgrade is required if you are using your HP bt450 as an adapter in your compatible HP printer.
  • HP bt450 Bluetooth Adapter Basic Software/Driver. This is the web package that you can download from hp.com/support.
  • HP bt450 upgrade software and instructions. (This is the web package that you can download from hp.com/support).
