Description
This SoftPaq contains a firmware upgrade for the Sony DVD +RW DW-P50A Drive.
NOTE: To determine if a notebook is configured with this optical drive, check the Device Manager. If the optical drive is listed as "SONY DVD+RW DW-P50A" the notebook is configured with this drive.

- Fixes the problem where users were unable to write to 4x DVD+RW media at the drive's allowable speeds (about 2-2.7x max).
Use these directions to guide you through the self-install process
Installation Instructions
1. Copy the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory your hard drive.2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
IMPORTANT: This SoftPaq cannot be applied if the auto-insert feature is enabled, so when the downloaded file is executed in Step 2, it will disable the auto-insert feature and then restart the notebook. If you are prompted to enable the auto-insert feature when the notebook is restarting, DO NOT enable the auto-insert feature.
3. Execute the downloaded file a second time and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the firmware flash process.
4. After the firmware upgrade is complete, restart the notebook.
NOTE: The auto-insert feature will be re-enabled when the notebook is restarted.
